Girl Up, the United Nations Foundation’s adolescent girl campaign, announced that British model and actress Cara Delevingne is joining Girl Up as a Champion. The 24-year-old star will support Girl Up programs that create change and empower girl leaders around the world.

“I’m truly honored to add my voice to the work Girl Up is doing to empower young women and create an entire generation of female leaders. As I’ve traveled the world, I’ve seen the power that investing in girls can have. An empowered and supported girl is an incredible force for change; a change I am now excited to be a part of,” – said Cara Delevingne of her new role as a Girl Up Champion.

As a strong advocate for girls and women, and a formidable inspiration to teen girls everywhere, Cara is a natural choice to represent and inspire the more than half a million Girl Up supporters from across the U.S. and in more than 85 countries worldwide.

“Cara’s individuality and self-expression is an inspiration to Girl Up leaders and girls everywhere,” said Girl Up Director Melissa Kilby. “She is fearless, she is strong and she is empowered. She is everything this movement represents, and we are thrilled to work with her to create critical change for girls around the world.”

To launch this exciting partnership in true Cara and Girl Up form, Cara released a video announcement via her social media channels on September 30, 2016.
